AARP volunteer tax preparers, trained and certified by the IRS and State of MN, will be offering assistance with preparing your federal and state income tax returns. Changes have been mandated by AARP and the State of MN to ensure the safety of the tax preparers, as well as the persons that are assisted.
Tax help will be available at the Jessie F Hallett Memorial Library, commencing February 9th, provided no additional safety alerts are instituted.
Changes made to the tax program are as follows and will be strictly followed:
- No in-person returns will be prepared. No walk-in appointments. Masks are mandatory for each appointment.
- Beginning January 19th, appointments can be made by calling the JFH Memorial Library (218-546-8005).
- Two appointments will be scheduled; the first appointment is for your tax documents to be scanned; the second appointment is for your review, signature and authorization to file your tax documents.
- Prior to your scheduled first appointment, you must come to the JFH Memorial Library and pick up a tax envelop packet with forms to be completed at home and returned to the tax preparers with your tax documents for scanning. Further instructions will be in the tax envelope packet. The tax envelope packets will be available at the Hallett Library beginning January 25th.
