Writer’s Workshop Offered at Crosby Library

The Quillmasters Writer’s Group of the Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library is hosting a Writer’s Workshop featuring Kate St. Vincent Vogl.  The workshop is open to the public and will be held on Tuesday, May 16, from 10:00 a.m -1:00 p.m. and includes a short lunch break. Vogl is the author of Lost & Found: A Memoir of Mothers. National ABC news has featured her story. Vogl teaches writing classes for all ages at the The Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis. Making a Scene is a three-hour Writer’s Workshop. Scenes are the building block of every story written, whether fiction or nonfiction. Learn the essential components of a scene: how to set it up, how to bring out the line of action, and how to intensify the conflict along with the characters for a satisfying chapter end––all of which will keep your readers turning page after page. Discover ways to cull out the weak spots in your story, and learn how to interrogate your work to make it as strong as can be.

Space is limited for the Making a Scene workshop to 20; interested participants must pre-register by May 10. Veterans are especially encouraged to attend. The fee (which includes lunch) is $7.00.
