SUMMARY:Jane Austen Book Club
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, March 12th @ 4:30 pm \nThe Jane Austen Book Club is the second Thursday of every month. \nWe will be reading through all of Jane Austen’s works. \nFor March we will be starting Northanger Abbey. \nSummary: Catherine Morland\, a remarkably innocent seventeen-year-old woman from a country parsonage. While spending a few weeks in Bath with a family friend\, Catherine meets and falls in love with Henry Tilney\, who invites her to visit his family estate\, Northanger Abbey. Once there\, Catherine\, a great reader of Gothic thrillers\, lets the shadowy atmosphere of the old mansion fill her mind with terrible suspicions. What is the mystery surrounding the death of Henry’s mother? Is the family concealing a terrible secret within the elegant rooms of the Abbey? Can she trust Henry\, or is he part of an evil conspiracy? Catherine finds dreadful portents in the most prosaic events\, until Henry persuades her to see the peril in confusing life with art.

SUMMARY:Banned Book Club
DESCRIPTION:Every month we’ll read a book that has been banned or challenged. We’ve picked the first few reads\, but we want your suggestions for what we read going forward! \nBanned Book Club will meet the third Tuesday of each month. \nOur pick for March is The Carnival at Bray by Jessie Ann Foley. \nBook Summary: \nIt’s 1993\, and Generation X pulses to the beat of Kurt Cobain and the grunge movement. Sixteen-year-old Maggie Lynch is uprooted from big-city Chicago to a windswept town on the Irish Sea. Surviving on care packages of Spin magazine and Twizzlers from her rocker uncle Kevin\, she wonders if she’ll ever find her place in this new world. When first love and sudden death simultaneously strike\, a naive but determined Maggie embarks on a forbidden pilgrimage that will take her to a seedy part of Dublin and on to a life- altering night in Rome to fulfill a dying wish. Through it all\, Maggie discovers an untapped inner strength to do the most difficult but rewarding thing of all\, live..

SUMMARY:JFHML Book Club
DESCRIPTION:Join the Library’s adult book club that meets the third Thursday of every month at 5:00! \nExtra copies of the book are available at the front desk! \nOur March selection is Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. \nBook Summary: \n\n\n\n\n\nPiranesi’s house is no ordinary building: its rooms are infinite\, its corridors endless\, its walls are lined with thousands upon thousands of statues\, each one different from all the others. Within the labyrinth of halls an ocean is imprisoned; waves thunder up staircases\, rooms are flooded in an instant. But Piranesi is not afraid; he understands the tides as he understands the pattern of the labyrinth itself. He lives to explore the house. \nThere is one other person in the house—a man called The Other\, who visits Piranesi twice a week and asks for help with research into A Great and Secret Knowledge. But as Piranesi explores\, evidence emerges of another person\, and a terrible truth begins to unravel\, revealing a world beyond the one Piranesi has always known.

Outside the city\, pregnant Lisbet lives with her husband and mother-in-law\, tending the bees that are the family’s livelihood. Though Lisbet is removed from the frenzy of the dancing plague afflicting the city’s women\, her own quiet life is upended by the arrival of her sister-in-law. Nethe has been away for seven years\, serving a penance in the mountains for a crime no one will name. \nIt is a secret Lisbet is determined to uncover.
