SUMMARY:Tales Retold Book Club
DESCRIPTION:We will be meeting on the first Tuesday of every month\, to read and discuss original works and spin-offs or retellings based on them. \nOur May pick is Red Riding Hood Retellings. \nOur main book is For The Wolf by Hannah Whitten \nSummary: \nThe first daughter is for the Throne.\nThe second daughter is for the Wolf. \nAs the only Second Daughter born in centuries\, Red has one purpose—to be sacrificed to the Wolf in the Wood in the hope he’ll return the world’s captured gods.\nRed is almost relieved to go. Plagued by a dangerous power she can’t control\, at least she knows that in the Wilderwood\, she can’t hurt those she loves. Again.\nBut the legends lie. The Wolf is a man\, not a monster. Her magic is a calling\, not a curse. And if she doesn’t learn how to use it\, the monsters the gods have become will swallow the Wilderwood—and her world—whole. \n  \nWe Also Suggest: \nGirl in Red by Christina Henry \nThe Wolf and The Woodsman by Ava Reid \nRed Wolf by Rachel Vincent

SUMMARY:Jane Austen Book Club
DESCRIPTION:The Jane Austen Book Club is taking the places of the J.R.R. Tolkien Book Club. \nWe will be reading through all of Jane Austen’s works. \nFor May we will be finishing Sense and Sensibility. \nSummary: Marianne Dashwood wears her heart on her sleeve\, and when she falls in love with the dashing but unsuitable John Willoughby she ignores her sister Elinor’s warning that her impulsive behavior leaves her open to gossip and innuendo. Meanwhile Elinor\, always sensitive to social convention\, is struggling to conceal her own romantic disappointment\, even from those closest to her. Through their parallel experience of love—and its threatened loss—the sisters learn that sense must mix with sensibility if they are to find personal happiness in a society where status and money govern the rules of love.

SUMMARY:JFHML Book Club
DESCRIPTION:Join the Library’s adult book club that meets the third Thursday of every month at 5:00! \nExtra copies of the book are available at the front desk! \nOur May selection is No Two Persons by Erica Bauermeister \nBook Summary: One book. Nine readers. Ten changed lives. New York Times bestselling author Erica Bauermeister’s No Two Persons is “a gloriously original celebration of fiction\, and the ways it deepens our lives.” \nThat was the beauty of books\, wasn’t it? They took you places you didn’t know you needed to go… \nAlice has always wanted to be a writer. Her talent is innate\, but her stories remain safe and detached\, until a devastating event breaks her heart open\, and she creates a stunning debut novel. Her words\, in turn\, find their way to readers\, from a teenager hiding her homelessness\, to a free diver pushing himself beyond endurance\, an artist furious at the world around her\, a bookseller in search of love\, a widower rent by grief. Each one is drawn into Alice’s novel; each one discovers something different that alters their perspective\, and presents new pathways forward for their lives. \nTogether\, their stories reveal how books can affect us in the most beautiful and unexpected of ways—and how we are all more closely connected to one another than we might think.
